The Bank Windhoek Namibian Enduro Championship is heading to the Kalahari this coming Saturday, April 16, for round three of the series.

The championship got off to a magnificent start at Farm Omakwara in February, when the Henle Brothers (both KTM) scooped first places, both in the motorbike class up to 200 cc (Class 1) and in the class of motorbikes over 200cc (Class 2). However, last year’s Class 2 champion, Henner Rusch (KTM), fought back on home turf at Farm Lichtenstein in March to win the second leg.

Equally, 2015 Class 1 Champion Ingo Waldschmidt (KTM) is back in contention after his win at Farm Lichtenstein. While these riders fought out wins amongst each other, Tommy Gous (Yamaha) silently took the lead in the Class 1 Championship.

Sven Schneidenberger (KTM) will be seeking to continue his unbeaten run in the Senior Motorcyle Riders Class (Class 5), with Frank Ahlreip (KTM) and Werner Wiese (Wiese) currently the strongest contenders.

The Namibian Quad cracks will be on the track too, with last year’s Ladies Champion Maike Bochert (Honda) eager to catch up in the championship to Claire Brendel (Honda), after having missed the last event. Jens Rubow (Yamaha) and J.L Oppermann (Honda) will be battling for first place in the men’s Quad Category.

The Namibian Enduro Club expects around 70 quad and motorbikes to enter in 11 competition classes. Junior riders as of 10 years of age will be on the track, as well as a large number of non-national championship riders.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the event, as the race is sure to be an interesting one, with exciting dune passages, tricky technical sections and high-speed intervals.

For entries and all other related information, the Namibian Enduro Club has posted information on the website www.namibianenduro.com.

Registration and scrutineering for all in Windhoek will take place from 18h00-19h00 on Thursday, April 14 at Yamaha Windhoek (Reger Street, Southern Industrial area). Saturday’s racing day will start at 7h00 with documentation and technical control with the first bike off the line at 9h00.

To get to the venue, riders and spectators are advised to travel towards Mariental and then follow the C20 in an easterly direction towards Stampriet and Aranos for approximately 140 km.

In Aranos, after turning right at FNB, riders and spectators continue past Bank Windhoek onto the district road D1010 (gravel) for approximately 2 km until the Enduro signboard is visible. Food and drinks will be available at the race venue from 06h00 Saturday and throughout the day.
