WINDHOEK– Local Radio station, Energy100FM, recently launched its 2013 beauty pageant, to raise funds for charity projects that will provide educational support, and at the same time to find an ambassador for its radio’s brand.
The theme for this year’s pageant is Celebrating Namibian Women with the station using this year’s pageant as a platform to take a stand against gender based violence that has become an alarming issue in our nation. The pageant started in 2003 with its winner leading projects such supporting primary students and learners from previously disadvantaged communities, like the San community in Namibia with funds. One of the projects is the Farm Six Project that supports not only with funds but also with stationary, toys, clothing that includes school uniforms, gardening tools and food items.
Although the pageant has been halted for few years, Emma Areses, the Corporate Communication Officer at Energy100FM, promises that this year it will be big, better and all out every year high on Namibia’s annual social calendar. “We will use this platform to recognise and appreciate Namibian women from all spheres of life,” says Areses.
Namibian women from the ages of 18 to 25 are urged to take part in the pageant. Entry forms are available on the Energy100FM website: energy100FM.com or at the main office at 17 Bismarck Street Windhoek West or at Young Ones in Swakopmund and at Nelao Photography in Walvis Bay. The pageant will take place on October 4 at the Hilton Hotel and tickets are available for N$250 including the after party at Chez Ntemba VIP. The deadline for all entries is on September 17.
