Delegates are in for a treat as the line-up of speakers for the upcoming Namibia International Energy Conference 2024 (NIEC 2024) is unveiled. With the countdown to the 6th edition of NIEC 2024 underway, anticipation builds as renowned figures from the energy, investment, finance and sustainability sectors prepare to take the stage. The conference promises a dynamic programme featuring 16 sessions, each hosting a distinguished roster of international and local speakers.
Kicking off the conference, Secretary General of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Haitham Al Ghais, is scheduled to deliver the opening address, followed by a keynote address from mines and energy minister Tom Alweendo. This is expected to lead into a high-profile panel discussion with national and global leaders, setting the stage for discussions facilitated by a leading expert.
Under the theme “Reimagine Resource-Rich Namibia: Turning Possibilities into Prosperity,” the NIEC 2024 offers an unparalleled platform for delegates to shape the narrative of Namibia’s energy future. With strategic industry intelligent sessions spanning across four dynamic stages on the first day, delegates are empowered to explore a diverse range of topics curated to inspire innovation and drive progress in Namibia’s energy landscape.
Selma Shimutwikeni, CEO of RichAfrica Consultancy and the visionary behind NIEC 2024, underscores the programme’s commitment to sparking imagination and enabling delegates to carve out their paths in the evolving energy sphere. “It’s a delicate balance,” she noted. “While our programme aims to spotlight Namibia’s burgeoning energy sector, it also invites global and regional stakeholders to contribute their expertise and share best practices, fostering a collaborative environment for mutual learning.” The conference aims to draw industry leaders from renowned energy, oil and mining companies, alongside government officials, underscoring the pivotal role of these discussions in shaping energy policies across the continent. Notably, sessions are anticipated to feature Namibian thought leaders such as Maggie Shino (Petroleum Commissioner in the mines and energy ministry), Ebson Uanguta (Interim Managing Director at the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor)), Manfriedt Muundjua (deputy general manager, BW Kudu/BW Energy) and Benedict Libanda (chief executive officer of the Environment Investment Fund).
With an agenda comprising 16 thought-provoking sessions, covering topics from “Navigating the Road to Success” moderated by NJ Ayuk, to “Promoting Namibian Content: Maximising Opportunities in the Energy Value Chain”, the conference promises rich discourse on critical issues shaping the energy sector. Strategic discussions, such as “The Next Phase of Oil & Gas Discoveries” moderated by Justin Cochrane of S&P Global Commodity Insights, Kornelia Shilunga – Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy, Republic of Namibia, Suzanne Coogan – vice president for Namibia, Shell, and Frank Cassulo – vice president, Chevron International Exploration & Production, are poised to captivate delegates on the industry stage.
