RUNDU – Former Rundu mayor, Hilka Leevi, 66, who died last Friday in the Rundu Intermediate Hospital where she had been hospitalised for the past two weeks will be interred at her home village of Sikondo at a date to be announced soon by her family.

Leevi was a member of the local authority of Rundu on the Swapo ticket for 10 years starting in 2005 as an ordinary member of council, and later became mayor from 2010 to 2015.

The funeral is  to be held at Sikondo village, 10 km west of Rundu, opposite the multi-million-dollar Sikondo government irrigation project, “The funeral is being held at the village at Sikondo,” confirmed Nelson Ashipala, the former mayor’s biological son. 

Ashipala said the burial date and place are yet to be confirmed by the family. 
Leevi who died on Friday leaves behind four children.
