WINDHOEK – The MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing Academy has embarked on another mission and will this time host a threefold boxing jamboree across the country, a first of its kind by any boxing academy in Namibia.
Namibia’s award-winning promoter, Nestor Tobias, promised boxing fans nothing but the best of action when the tripartite boxing bonanza gets underway, with the first event taking place on December 6th, the second event on December 11-13th, while the final part of the marathon boxing feast is on December 20th.
On December 6th, incumbent World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa Bantamweight Champion, Immanuel ‘Prince’ Naidjala, will defend his African crown against South African opponent Gideon Buthelezi over 12-rounds at the Windhoek Country Club. Buthelezi is a former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) World Champion and a highly experience boxer with a record of 13-wins and 4-loses from a total of 17 fights in the paid ranks.
Part-2 of the boxing fête, which is slated for December 11, 12 and 13th, will see more than hundred amateur boxers from all corners of the country go toe-to-toe in the MTC Sunshine Boxing Cup at the A Shipena School Hall. The three-day event is aimed at developing amateur boxers while according them a platform to showcase their talent.
The last and final part of the bonanza heads to the border town of Oshikango at Helao Nafidi Trade Fair Centre on December 20th, with top acts such as Paulus ‘Hitman’ Moses and Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda topping the bill on that evening when they defend their international titles.
“The last time we were in Oshikango we were surprised by the huge turn-out of fans and that’s why have decided to go back and say thank you to the fans. We would also like to thank Ohangwena Regional Governor, Usko Nghaamwa and his office for inviting us,” said Tobias.
“The opponents for both ‘Hitman’ and ‘The Rock’ is yet to be confirmed, but I can assure you that we are looking at world class opponents for both of them. We are committed to giving our fans the best Christmas gift to show appreciation for all the support they have given us throughout the year, and this is how we know best,” concludes Tobias. The undercards for all the events is yet to be confirmed and will be made known soon.
