With no hopes of finishing in the top four of the Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) premier league, Reho Falcon will tomorrow play for pride against Rehoboth Rugby Club at home.
Occupying the bottom of the eight-team log standing with zero wins from 13 matches, Reho Falcon are hoping to end the season on a high
note by beating their cross-town rivals and secure their first league win.
Reho Falcon head coach Ronald Pedro told New Era Sport yesterday that although there are no hopes of finishing in a better position in the NRU league, it would be important to beat their rivals tomorrow.
He added that winning will be good for the players. “At the moment, we are at the bottom of the league, and we will still be bottom even if we win. But I think it will be important for us to collect maximum points against Rehoboth,” he noted.
The gaffer said it was a great learning curve this season, and it helped a lot in the development of the team.
“Despite our position in the league this season, I would say the season was very instrumental in the development process of our players, as many players got exposure. It is only a matter of time before we will have the best team in the league,” he enthused.
Meanwhile, fifth-placed Rehoboth’s Gerald Loubser said it is always tough playing against their rivals, and they do not underestimate them, despite their league position. However, as a team, they remain ready to take them on in an exciting derby.
“We don’t underestimate them. They are a good team, and I believe we will have an equally tough game. For us, we are ready and prepared to face them in this encounter,” he observed.
Elsewhere, Kudus will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat when they lock horns against Western Suburbs tomorrow, while defending champions Unam will welcome Grootfontein in another potentially exciting fixture.
Trustco United will face Wanderers.
