… in weekend of World Cup qualifiers

WINDHOEK – As national football teams prepare for a crucial week of FIFA World Cup qualifying matches this weekend, off the field FIFA’s subsidiary company Early Warning System GmbH (EWS) is set for a busy time monitoring the betting market for any conspicuous odds.

EWS has monitored all 649 matches played so far during the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 qualifiers and is working with over 400 betting operators and gaming regulators to protect football matches across all FIFA competitions.

FIFA has created a video to help explain the work of EWS, including how the company analyses what is a complex international sport betting market and the process by which suspicious patterns or incidents are reported back to football’s world governing body.
