WINDHOEK – Farmers are unhappy about overdue tax returns from the Office of the Receiver of Revenue on the personal tax income, as well as the value added tax (VAT).
The farmers are not happy with the pace at which the Receiver of Revenue is processing the returns and voiced their concerns during the recently held Namibian Agriculture Union’s 67th annual congress in Windhoek. They said the slow pace is affecting their ability to care for their animal during the prevailing harsh drought conditions.
The congress decided to continue with negotiations with the Ministry of Finance in order to seek a solution and speed up the outstanding payments of personal tax and VAT. Farmers also complained that they often have to travel long distances to the Offices of the Receiver of Revenue in Windhoek, since they cannot sort out enquiries over the phone.
