WINDHOEK – Two suspects believed to be siblings will appear in the Karibib Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of murder of a man who proposed to their sister-in-law last Friday.

It is alleged they stabbed 55-year-old Nicodemus Hanson after he proposed to their sister-in-law at a bar in Usab location in Karibib in the early hours of Friday morning at around 02h24.

The woman was in the company of her in-laws.

The in-laws did not take kindly to this and when the deceased left they followed him and stabbed him with a knife in the chest, arm and leg.

The deceased was transported to Usakos State Hospital where he died at about 12h00.

His next of kin was informed while police investigations continue.

According to Sergeant Slogan Matheus of the Namibian Police Media Liaison Services, George Appollus Swartbooi, 43, was also stabbed with a knife in the left upper body at around 03h20 in Etetewe Street near Moses Garoëb School on Saturday morning.

It is alleged Swartbooi and the suspect – known to the police, but still at large – had an argument and the deceased punched the suspect in the face.

The suspect then allegedly followed the deceased and allegedly stabbed him.

The deceased was taken to Katutura State Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The next of kin was informed and investigations continue.

A 35-year-old man was stabbed to death in Kasamba Street in 7de Laan in Windhoek when he tried to intervene in a fight between the suspect and his girlfriend.

It is alleged Klass Zongo was stabbed in the upper body on Friday evening at about 21h00 of November 28 for trying to stop an argument between the suspect and his girlfriend.

The suspect was arrested and is due to appear in the the Katutura Magistrate’s Court today.

The next of kin is informed and police investigations continue.

In Omusati Region a case of murder was reported after 40-year-old Gideon Nghilifa Hangula was shot in the lower abdomen with a shotgun on November 30 at about 03h30 at Odimbwa village.

According to the weekly crime report, the deceased and some colleagues attempted to break into Ekango shebeen where the suspect was on duty guarding the place.

When they attempted to flee after being discovered, the security guard fired at them and wounded the deceased.

The body of the deceased was transported to the Okahao police mortuary for an autopsy and his next of kin have already been informed.

The police opened a case of attempted housebreaking against the deceased and his accomplices who are still on the run. A police docket was forwarded to the prosecutor general on whether to prosecute the guard.

The dead body of a female was found nearby a riverbed in Tsintsabis by members of the public at about 07h00 last Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Paulina Anibes who was seen drinking at a local shebeen on the fateful evening of Saturday when she lost her life.

The cause of death is not known, but police suspect rape as the circumstances under which the body was found suggest. The next of kin was informed and police investigations continue.

A 25-year-old man escaped with his life after being stabbed with a sharp object on the left backside of his body at about 05h30 at Rehab Bar in Nomtsoub location in Tsumeb.

It is alleged Daniel Tjizao and the suspect who is known but still at large had an argument.

The cause of their argument is not known.

The suspect fled the scene after the incident and Tjizao was taken to Tsumeb State Hospital where his condition was described as serious but stable.
Police investigations continue.

Keetmanshoop also reported a case of murder.

It is alleged Martin Vries, the deceased, and the 47-year-old suspect were drinking together at Donkerhoek in the Tseiblaagte location when an argument over liquor erupted between them.

The incident happened at about 20h00 on Thursday and the suspect allegedly stabbed Vries several times on the upper side of his body.

He died on the spot and the suspect is due to appear at the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court today.

The next of kin is informed and police investigations continue.
