WINDHOEK– The Oviritje year is billed for a year-end in style with two concerts tonight and tomorrow night at the Katutura Community Hall and the UN Plaza respectively.
This concert have been organise to bring the Oviritje group to end the year together, raise fund for the union and launching the album that were released this year but which have not been launched. They have been organised by the Oviritje of Namibia Cultural Union (Onacu) and Extra Mile Printing. Tonight’s show is expected to be the best as one of the pioneers of the genre, Dr Sweet Kareke will be performing. “Dr Kareke promise to give you what you have been missing of him, I am still me and expect the unexpended so to my fan be there,” says Dr Kareke. One of the organisers of tonight’s show, Tjiurimo Hange, says Oviritje fans must expect the best show of the year. “You know what ONACU is about, you attend, and we give the best you ever had. So expect the best of the best from all artists,” he promises.
Tonight’s show is featuring 12 Oviritje artists and groups, Mutjangatjike Ben Muundjua, Jossie Kauandenge, Rax Kandjoze, Diop, KDK, Oom-rica, Ongoro Nomundu, Wild Dogs ja Hakane, Tjitjekura Tjerijama, Onjoka ja Kombomi, Tjonga Tjongile, Dr Kareke and Jane Tjokazera. Entrance fee is N$30 at the door and no are available in advance. The doors open at 18:00h.
Tomorrow’s show equally promises an unforgettable event, and free for that matter with five artists of ONACU, Rax Kandjoze, Kapa Kamaheke, Wild Dogs Ja Hakane, For a, Diop and Ozosondoro launching their albums. The show starts at ten O’clock in the morning (10H00) till late. “Come in number to listen to new hits that a rocking the airwaves now and those old hits of yours that you like the most,” entices Kauandenge. This concert has been made possible by Merian Mungendje, Bayocle Investments CC, Katutura Voice, Extra Mile Printing Works, Uriokuao Kahorere and New Light Studio.
