Thirty-year-old Paulus Alugodhi died instantly after he was stabbed on Sunday night, following a long feud dating back to January.
Alugodhi was stabbed on the left side of the chest at a bar in the Cham Cham Location near Oshivelo.
The police in Oshikoto Region have since opened a case of murder against 23-year-old suspect Sackaria Shilongo, who on Tuesday appeared in court on a charge of murder.
Acting regional crime coordinator in the Oshikoto Region Detective Chief Inspector Edna Nawa said the suspect and the deceased had a heated argument in January, which left a lingering grudge between the two. “The reasons for the feud are unknown to the police,” Nawa said.
He noted that both the suspect and victim had not consumed alcohol at the time of the incident.
Shilongo reportedly approached Alugodhi at the bar where he fatally stabbed him. The suspect was arrested the same day.
Meanwhile the police in Oshikoto Region have opened an attempted murder case against David Shikolalye, 26, after Shikolalye allegedly clubbed a 27-year-old victim with a piece firewood on the head at King Kauluma village on Friday.
The two are said to have been arguing over meat. Nawa said the victim sustained injuries to the head.
In a separate incident in Oshikoto Region, a mentally disabled woman was allegedly raped by a cattle herder in the bushes at 02h00 on Friday. The incident occurred at Omuntele village in Omuntele Constituency.
The suspect, 46-year-old Ntesa Simasiku, was arrested and appeared in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
