First Song for Toucy in New York

Home Archived First Song for Toucy in New York

By Frederick Philander

New York-based Namibian actress, radio announcer and musician, Toucy Tjimbondo has just released her first single, Watch Out, in the Big Apple.

“I wrote the song, arranged the vocals and recorded the single some time ago at Ruff Rider Studios in New York. This single I consider an all-time blessing in my artistic career here in the United States,” said Toucy, the popular Namibian actress who has performed in some cameo television and film roles in the United States.

In between her busy schedule Toucy will also this weekend host an African Day Parade in New York.

“Namibian Ambassador to the UN, Dr Kaire Mbuende, will give a formal speech at the event to which Namibians living in the States, have been invited. I will also perform my first song, Watch Out at the same occasion,” said Toucy in an e-mail message to Art/Life.

According to her the production of her first single, of which she intends sending copies to local radio stations soon, was a unique achievement.

“I never thought I would be able to compose a song. That has been a blessing, all-time achievement, my highlight honestly. My brother Rio is a great composer, but in my wildest dreams I never thought I would be following in his footsteps. I suppose one becomes more creative especially in this competitive American music industry,” she said.

“Hey, as an artist one has to be multi-talented and try different things as far as it’s entertainment,” she said.
