BIKES, burnouts, galore will be the order of the day in Walvis Bay this week end, when the traditional Live to Ride Fisheagle Rally will celebrate 16 years of biking festivities at the coast. The week-end event is being held at the Walvis Bay Lagoon Chalets from Friday, when the gates open for entries to Sunday.
With an expected turnout of over 200 bikes, the mass ride through the harbour town at 10h00 on Saturday morning will mark the beginning of the event, which is followed by some thrilling Drag Racing on the main street leading into town. Clubs from all over Namibia and some entries from SA taking part.
Saturday afternoon’s will take place at the rally site for biker fun and games with beer tent, refreshment, live music, and prizes galore for the entries as well a lucky draw cash prize of N$10 000 to be won. Sunday morning will end off with a church service held by the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA).
Speaking to organiser Simon Van Zyl, he said that the Live to Ride organising committee has worked hard on making this a memorable event once again, since the Fisheagle Rally has stood out as being one a highlight on the Namibian bikers calendar.
He also said that proceeds of the week-end will go towards various charitable causes in Walvis Bay, particularly the underprivileged children and aged, because their aim is give back to the community and help those in need.
