Fishing company sponsors Erari FC

A fishing entity called Ombwa ya Kandokojo recently donated sports gear worth N$ 19 000 to second division outfit Erari FC competing in the Otjozondjupa region.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the club, Okakarara Regional Sports Officer Justice Kambuu Kavari extended an appreciation for the philanthropy of Ombwa ya Kandokojo for the sponsorship.

“This is a very good gesture shown by the company, and we appreciate it highly. These are the kinds of support we need to develop sports in our constituency,” he said.

The sports officer added that many sports clubs in the area require assistance, and it is high time for the corporate world to come on board and play their part in uplifting the development of sports in the Okakarara constituency.

“This sponsorship will make a difference, as it will motivate the youth to take up sports seriously and showcase their talents,” said Kavari.

The sports officer told this publication that discussions are ongoing between Erari FC and Ombwa ya Kandokojo for the company to become the official sponsor of the team. “I hope these discussions will provide positive results for the team to reach its objectives in playing in the country’s top-flight league,” he said.

The chairperson of the Ombwa ya Kandokojo, Vetaruhe Kandorozu said the company saw the needs of the team, and it is worth assisting.  “This team approached us, and we considered their request as they are a team with the vision to achieve. The team had only one gear, and that was indeed not easy, considering that it had to play home and away games in the league,” he noted.

Kandorozu, who is also a Member of Parliament, said the prime aim is to help the youth by empowering them and motivating them.

“This a team which is composed of youngsters who want to make a name for themselves. We must help them get out of the streets and unwanted places so that they can expose their talent,” he said.

Kandorozu added that the company will look into the request to become the team’s official sponsor.

“We are on the table. We will also help them with training gear, tracksuits and equipment. We want to afford them the opportunity to be the next Deon Hotto, Peter Shalulile and Stigga Ketjijere,” he continued.

The Okakarara-based Erari FC was formed in 2022 by young people here, and is a member of the Namibia Football Association’s second division in the Otjozondjupa region.
