FNB equips car guards for festive season

First National Bank (FNB) Namibia has handed over bibs and hats to 100 car guards operating under the Swakopmund Municipality, reinforcing efforts to enhance safety and visibility in public areas ahead of the busy festive season.

The handover took place in Swakopmund at a time when the coastal town experiences an influx of holidaymakers, increasing the need for clearly identified and reliable parking assistance. The initiative forms part of FNB Namibia’s ongoing commitment to community safety and collaboration with local authorities.

Receiving the bibs and hats on behalf of the municipality was Melvin Cloete, manager of the emergency and law enforcement division at the Swakopmund Municipality.

Joram Kahona, FNB Namibia coastal area manager said, by providing identifiable attire, the initiative helps ensure that car guards are more visible and easily recognisable, contributing to improved security and giving residents and visitors greater peace of mind when parking in town.

Kahona said the initiative reflects FNB Namibia’s role beyond banking. “As the festive season approaches and Swakopmund welcomes thousands of visitors, safety becomes increasingly important. This initiative supports the municipality’s efforts by ensuring that car guards are clearly identified and better equipped to assist the public,” he said.

Cloete welcomed the support, noting that the donation will assist the municipality in maintaining order and safety during peak season.

Through initiatives such as this, FNB Namibia continues to demonstrate its commitment to meaningful community involvement and to creating safer environments for the communities it serves. -newsroom@nepc.com.na
