… Wanderers vs Suburbs
WINDHOEK – Hundreds of rugby enthusiasts are expected to flock to the Wanderers Sports Stadium this Saturday, to witness firsthand as action unfolds between FNB Western Suburbs and FNB Wanderers.
Having met only once since the 2012 opening edition of the FNB sponsored derby, which Wanderers went on to win via a 16-13 victory over Suburbs at the same venue, the two teams will once again renew rivalry in the FNB clash and Suburbs have vowed to wrestle the trophy away from Wanderers.
FNB Namibia has again come on board to ensure finances and all logistical issues are well taken care of ahead of the mega clash.
FNB has been the main sponsor of the derby since its inception in 2012.
“The competition was initially introduced by FNB and it’s also our way of thanking FNB for its unwavering support over the past few years.
“Besides showing our appreciation, we also strive to give FNB the needed exposure, said Suburbs President Corry Mensah.
Speaking of Saturday’s match, Mensah said it will be a tough encounter, as Wanderers will be defending the trophy in their own backyard, but however maintained that his boys are more than ready to bring the coveted trophy to Suburbs Park in Khomasdal.
“Wanderers have about 10 players in the national team and that in itself shows you the kind of quality and experience they have at their disposal but we are equally more than ready to give them a good run for their money and hopefully bring the trophy home at Suburbs Park, cautioned Mensah.
