WINDHOEK – Industrious Windhoek entrepreneur Twapewa Kadhikwa added a new brand to her business portfolio when she opened Tuxie Kasie fast-food restaurant yesterday.
The new fast-food outlet sits at the northern edge of Wanaheda in Claudius Kandovazu Street with entrances from Otjomuise Street in the west and Mahatma Ghandi Street in the east.
Windhoek City Mayor Muesee Kazapua, who officiated at the event, said the city is proud to be associated with the award-winning entrepreneur, as she realises yet another of her dreams.
Kadhikwa and her husband Erastus are well known for several businesses such as the famous Xwama Restaurant and Kadhikwa Chicken Farming.
Kazapua said the city fathers would be creating a more entrepreneur-friendly environment in the suburbs to lure investors to set up shop.
“Many people don’t want to bring business to Katutura. They think the people here don’t have money or they are scared. Why should we undermine them? Crime is everywhere. There is after all good food in Katutura,” he said, wishing the new establishment a bright future.
“This is going to be a wonderful place for us to bring our international guests,” said a business mogul who attended the opening.
“I like the density, and you’re going to see other hotspots because these businesses will draw a regular flow of people,” said one of the guests.
“I know some people would like an international brand but I hope a lot of people come to think of us as their neighbourhood chicken outlet. We want to make things better, more neighbourly, by being here. We want to make things happen,” said an upbeat Kadhikwa.
Tuxie buys all of its chickens from Namibia Poultry Industries.
