Foreign dignitaries to touch down for celebrations

Minister of Information, Communication and Technology, Emma Theofelus, has announced that 10 foreign leaders have confirmed their attendance for the inauguration of Namibia’s fifth President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, on Friday.

Nandi-Ndaitwah’s swearing-in coincides with Namibia’s 35th Independence celebrations, which will be held under the theme ‘Beyond 35 for a Prosperous Future.’ Speaking at the Government Information Centre on Wednesday, Theofelus stated that three vice presidents, seven former presidents, and two prime ministers have confirmed their attendance. She noted that the list may change as more confirmations come in.

Transport will be provided for residents of the Khomas Region, with pick-up points in 10 constituencies to be announced soon.

“Members of the public are advised to be at the pick-up points at 05h00 on Friday, and by 07h00 residents should be at the Independence Stadium,” Theofelus said.
