The Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, Safety and Security has announced the commencement of student permit applications for prospective foreign students who have and wish to enrol at Namibian educational institutions for the 2024 academic year.
Executive director Etienne Maritz said in a media statement on Thursday the application forms can be submitted from 13 November 2023 to 29 February 2024, noting that no extension will be granted after the deadline.
Student permit fees per year are N$1 600 for primary and secondary education and N$2 200 for tertiary education, payable once the application has been approved, he said.
“Applications for courses of less than one year may be submitted at any time, provided that there is an offer from the relevant institutions and the foreign student applies and waits for the outcome while he or she is outside Namibia,” the ED added.
Maritz further stressed that all applicants must comply with the stipulated requirements by signing the relevant application forms and providing certified copies of all the required documents.
He, however, said approval letters or acknowledgement receipts issued to students by the ministry cannot be used at the port of entry as proof of student permits and warned that appropriate measures will be taken against prospective students who apply for student permits but do not actually attend classes and instead engage in other businesses.
Application forms can be accessed from the ministry’s website.
