Formulating poverty alleviation strategies

Home National Formulating poverty alleviation strategies

Windhoek

Minister of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare Bishop Zephania Kameeta yesterday said he is familiarising himself and exploring how best to mitigate poverty.

Kameeta said the ministry is “not starting from nothing”, as there were already measures in place aimed at reducing poverty across the country.

He said he is also familiarising himself with what has been happening at the different ministries in as far as eradicating poverty is concerned, especially the Ministry of Land Reform.
Currently, there is no office for the Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare and Kameeta operates from parliament.

“We are really exploring and we will come out with a ministerial statement later,” emphasised Kameeta yesterday. This, he added, will not take “years”. Kameeta yesterday met Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila to learn in detail about the history of the food bank.
