Four minor girls were allegedly raped in different incidents last week. The youngest was seven years old while the oldest was 15.
The four cases were brought to the attention of the police and have arrested the perpetrators.
On Thursday last week, at about 20h30, a seven-year-old girl was raped by a 30-year-old Angolan man at Okambogo village in the Onyaanya area in Oshikoto region.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly had sexual intercourse with the minor under coercive circumstances.
The suspect was due to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court this week.
In the Omusati region, a case of rape was also reported to the police, on Thursday, between 17h00 – 21h00, where a 10-year-old girl was raped at Omalyadhila village in the Onesi constituency. It is alleged that the suspect had sexual intercourse with the minor. The suspect is known and is yet to be arrested.
In Ongwediva in the Oshana region, a case of rape of a minor was reported on Tuesday, at 17h00, the 15-year-old victim was raped at Omatando location in Ongwediva. It is alleged that the suspect grabbed the victim and had sexual advances in the suspect’s room without her consent.
“The victim came from school and the suspect grabbed her on the way and threatened her up to the room. The suspect is known but not yet arrested,” the police report stated.
Another rape of a minor was recorded at Oshiweda village, Kunene region. According to the police, the incident occurred on Wednesday, at an unknown time but in the afternoon when an adult suspect raped a 14-year-old girl.
“It’s alleged that the suspect had sexual intercourse with a minor on four different occasions and at different places. The last incident took place after the victim returned from school. The suspect is known but not yet arrested,” the police said.
