The Cell One Road to Fame knockout round has started and the regional finalists went straight to work on arrival in Windhoek last week on Monday, it was announced in a press release.
“Firstly they had a detailed briefing session and a photo shoot then they met the Cell One management team and went straight into the Cell One Customer Care Centre, which was a hive of activity. After this it was back to the Windhoek Country Club where the contestants received their songs for the first knockout round. This was only the beginning,” said Severius Majiedt, one of the organisers during a press conference last Friday.
The contestants soon realised that the Cell One Road to Fame was not a holiday camp in Windhoek, but that the knockout round phase would be a true test of their ability to adapt, compromise and lots of hard work.
“The contestants’ work day starts at 08h00 and most evenings they do not leave the practice hall before 23h00. Various workshops were also held and they learnt how to control their voices, work with live backing music and choreograph their performance and manage their personal brand reputation.
Their first five days are almost over and the spirits are high in the regional finalists camp,” he said.
During the week the contestants also had to deal with a knockout round.
“For this show six finalists sang their hearts out and later on today they will say good bye to two of their fellow contestants. The knockout round show was of a high standard and the bar has been set for the remaining finalists,” he said.
At the same occasion Cell One’s communications manager, Rejoice Itembu said: “Cell One has welcomed the high standard, which the professional team has brought to this project. We are convinced that by setting such a high standard, so early in the knockout stage, the three contestants who make it through to the finals on May 30 will have the talent that the project originally set out to find. Each one of the contestants hs their own unique style and talent and Cell One commends each one for making it through to this phase.
Those returning to their regions should see their achievement as truly special and should build on what you have learnt from the team,” she said.
The contestants will face further challenges during the next few weeks as the competition gets tougher, the tasks get harder and the bar is continually raised.
Contestants from Caprivi, Omusati, Kunene and Kavango have been sent home since the start of the knockout last week.
