GIBEON – In a scene reminiscent of Israelis supplied with manna while in the wilderness during Biblical times, the elderly at Gibeon received free fish.
The Seaflower Group of Companies recently made a donation of boxes of hake fillets to the elderly and needy at Gibeon in the Hardap region.
October 01 is known as the International Day for Elderly People and it was against this background that, Seaflower Group of Companies through its subsidiary Seacope Freezer Fishing (pty) LTD, made this humble gesture to spoil the elderly of the Gibeon community to commemorate their day in style, by eating fish which is good for their health said Seaflower acting CEO Mike Nghipunya.
About 10 boxes of 10kg hake fillets were prepared as a meal to spoil the elders, while enjoying good music. As this was not all, 10kg x 32 boxes of horse mackerel and red fish were distributed to the elderly to take home, this donation was valued at about N$9746.
A few months ago the Seaflower Group of Companies donated 200 trays of canned fish to people in needy in the //Kharas region as well as in the Kavango East Region, whereby Nghipunya promised that they have to give back to the community and he promised this is not a temporary thing, but something which will continue, not just in the //Kharas region but will be extended nationally.
