WINDHOEK – The Agro-Marketing and Trade Agency (AMTA) has assured that the fresh produce hubs in Rundu and Ongwediva are ready for shoppers over the festive season.

Meke Uushona, the corporate branding and promotion officers for the government’s AMTA, said they have kept the popular wedding season in mind as well as the many parties that will happen throughout the country.

“So if you want something fresh, something local, our hubs are here for anyone. It is good to note that the hubs will be open throughout the festive season so catering companies, retail shops, street vendors and individuals can all take advantage of this service,” she said.

When asked which type of produce is available she explained potatoes, onions, butternuts, tomatoes, watermelons, beetroot, carrots, peppers, gemsquash, apples, oranges, bananas, garlic, grapes and others.

“What one can do is just call any of the hubs and you’ll get assisted accordingly,” Uushona said.

Asked if the produce are locally produced or imported, she said most is locally produced. “But we have some imported ones especially fruit. AMTA would like to wish all its stakeholders a safe festive season and a prosperous 2015. For assistance please call our friendly marketing officers at Rundu 0812954069 and Ongwediva 081170990.”
