Rehoboth-based Southern Stream First Division League (SSFDL) outfit Friends FC continued with their impressive run in the division after its triumph against Latinos FC on Saturday.
The team scored four goals past Latinos, who failed to find the back of the net at Rehoboth Stadium. Friends remained on top of the league table after six wins from seven games played, and a draw so far.
In another first-division league fixture played on Saturday, Blue Birds eased to 3-1 by beating Orlando Pirates at Kuisebmond Stadium, while Try Again stunned Mariental Sports Club 1-0 at J. Stephanus Stadium in Keetmanshoop
The encounter between Date Eleven and Oranjemund FC ended in a stalemate after each side found the back of the net once in Keetmanshoop.
In the only Sunday game, Orlando Pirates suffered another defeat at the hands of Eleven Arrows by a 2-1 scoreline.
The chairperson of the SSFDL, Murs Murkus, shared with New Era Sports that derby matches for the coastal teams Arrows and Birds were moved to accommodate Pirates’ outstanding fixtures.
The historic club, Pirates, played fewer games (four) than other teams due to its delays in the registration of players.
Friends FC is leading the log with 19 points, followed by Blue Birds in second place with 15 points, while Eleven Arrows occupy the third spot with 13 points.
At the bottom of the log sits Oranjemund FC with three points, while Black Africa lies in 10th position with three points from five games.
