Futsal league intensifies as thrilling first round concludes

Futsal league intensifies as thrilling first round concludes

Fans can anticipate top-tier futsal action this weekend as the first round concludes at the Windhoek Showgrounds.

Over six matches are scheduled for the premier men’s league this weekend.

Log leaders Chile FC, who have amassed a total of 40 points so far this season, will be aiming to extend their reign at the top when they face Ineos FC, who are placed 10th with 15 points, at 18h00.

Ninth-placed Raggazzi FC will face a test after an impressive 8-1 victory against 7 Kings. They have a tough assignment against second-placed Quality FC at 20h00.

Quality FC are currently second with 37 points, just three points behind leaders Chile FC, and they will be hoping to collect maximum points to close the gap.

Despite the pressure and crucial nature of their weekend match, Raggazzi FC head coach and founder Zack Aria Halim said his charges are not intimidated, and believe they can cause an upset.

“After the international break, we came back strong, winning 8-1 against 7 Kings, which boosted our morale. We understand how tough it is to play against our Saturday opponent, but the win last week is what we needed to power us into another win this Saturday. We will build on that performance,” he enthused.

In other matches on Saturday, 7 Kings, who suffered a heavy loss last week, take on X-Men FC in a match slated for 14h00, while Boston Madrid, placed eighth with 19 points, will be hoping to collect points as they are set to square off against WHK Futsal at 15h00.

Demia FC, who have collected 12 points so far in the league, placing them 11th, will be hoping to build on their win last week after defeating WHK Futsal 3-2. This weekend, they take on WIAS FC at 16h00.

Flying V, on the other hand, will take on The Mavericks at 18h00 in another exciting match, while Patriots will face off against JAC Motors at 19h00.

Speaking on prospects for this weekend, Futsal Namibia media manager Greyeno Rusberg said fans can expect full-on action.

“The first half of the season concludes with an exciting triple-header at Showgrounds Plaza this Saturday.

All teams are looking to end the first round strong, and it’s a known fact that each team will be looking to win their remaining games. We urge fans to come in numbers and witness greatness,” he added.
