Round six of the Bank Windhoek Namibia National Enduro Series will take place at the Gallina Motor Cross Race Track on the outskirts of Windhoek this Saturday, 2 August 2014.

The Gallina MX Track will also be the venue for this year’s edition of the Namibian Southern African Offroad Championship (SORC) event. The SORC events comprises of five events held in Namibia, South Africa, Zambia Zimbabwe and Botswana.

Last year, Namibia hosted the African Motorcycle Union (AMU) event at Uis and came in first place. This event is more prestigious than the SORC event and is held once a year in a different African country.

“For the upcoming SORC event, the Namibian Enduro Club is expecting to see talented foreign racers on Namibian soil. We also hope that Namibia can proof again to have better prepared riders,” said Günter Brettschneider, Chairman of the Namibian Enduro Club.

The bike route is to the greater extent new, and will be challenging to say the least. The speeds that the National Bikes will be riding at, will be slow, as 85% of the route consists of tricky single tracks, challenging riverbeds and hill climbs.

Feedback from the quad riders was positive for last year’s event. The quads, however, will be riding on the same route, as it was difficult to find new terrain with the neighbouring farms being too close to the venue.

“For a quad, one ideally needs a Jeep track or something close to it for them to ride. With bikes, it is easier as you just point them in a direction and you ride there,” Brettschneider said.

The Namibian Enduro Club expects this to be a very entertaining race, because of the foreigners coming to ride and because of the parts of the Gallina Motocross track that the competitors have to ride.

If a bit of action is what you need on Saturday, then come to Gallina Motocross Track and enjoy the guys playing in the dirt.
