Georgia Garises, the second runner-up at the Miss Namibia pageant, is representing Namibia at the second edition of Miss Charm, in Vietnam.
Garises, who came third after Miss Namibia, Prisca Anyolo, and the first runner-up Lenna Mugena at a ceremony held at the Lüderitz Waterfront in July, will compete in the pageant that seeks to empower young women to become ambassadors for tourism, culture and diversity.
Miss Charm focuses on providing a platform for young women to showcase their talents and advocate these important causes on the international stage. The pageant, based in Vietnam, was founded in 2019 but faced logistical challenges and was only held for the first-time last year, with Brazil taking the crown.
This year marks Namibia’s debut at Miss Charm, with Garises carrying the hopes of the nation. The national director for Namibia for the Miss Charm competition, Bobby Kaanjosa, expressed excitement and confidence in Garises’ ability to represent Namibia with grace and distinction.
He said the Miss Charm pageant provides a unique opportunity for young women to gain international exposure, develop personal and professional skills, and contribute to positive social change.
“They have directors all over the world, so we national directors apply to send representatives of our contries to this pageant, and they send us the requirements.
He further said, when the pageant reached out to him early in November to send a representative, it was not easy as they only had three weeks to prepare Garises for the pageant. However the support from her family and the Miss Namibia was very helpful.
“My hope for Miss Charm is for it to grow as big as Miss Universe. Since I startard working with the founders of Miss Charm I have realized they have a great vision, in the way they have organised the pageant so far. Georgia has been in Vietnam for a week and her feedback is very positive. They are treating the girls well,” he said.
Kaanjosa said they will open entries for Miss Charm 2025 very soon and he believes Georgia is doing an amazing job reppresenting Namibia very well in Vietnam.
Miss Namibia chief executive officer Umbi Karuaihe-Upi said the organisation is the not the national director of Miss Charm. However Miss Namibia has become a platform where other pageants scout for contestants.
She added that the same had happened to Miss Teen 2023 first runner up Innocentia Mukumbi.
“We are so proud of all our contestants and our second runner up Georgia she is doing a good job and we are behind her, through out her Miss Charm journey and we wish her all the best,” she said.
