Multi awards winning artist Lazarus Shiimi, aka Gazz,  is definitely on the right track for global recognition as he recently travelled to Miami, Florida to finish the shooting of his collaboration video with Jamaican-American recording artist and songwriter, Janelle Thorbourne, better known by her stage name of Nyanda.

Nyanda is one half of the Pop/Reggae duo, Brick & Lace. They exploded onto the charts with singles Love is wicked and Bad to di bone.  Gazza’s trip forms part of his music video shoot with Nyanda, now a solo artist, after teaming up with the Jamaican singer last year on a successful collaboration song titled Up, Up and Away. The song is said to be making waves in Miami and Jamaica. Gazza says they shot the first part of the video last December but the footages were not enough hence the Miami trip to perfect it. “We want to make sure the video’s expectation is equal to the song, which is favoured in the United States and in Jamaica.  “This is the first time I shoot a video with a crew of more than 30, 20 cars and a track, so it was quite an experience,” he says.

The dancehall track is about two people in a long distance relationship longing for one another and can’t wait to see each other. “She’s a beautiful, sexy young lady. I’m a man from Africa, so I wanted to paint a bit of reality. When you listen to the song and you see the video, it should make sense.” Gazza hopes that  the collabo will take Namibian music to a new level. “Fans always put me under pressure because they keep me on my toes to work extra hard. I’m pushing boundaries and at the same time having a good time,” says Gazza.  The video is set for release towards the end of May.
