Although the University of Namibia (Unam)’s Cultural Festival live band show featured prominent international artists, such as Heavy K, renowned local artist Gazza (real name Lazarus Shiimi) managed to steal the whole show on Friday night with his new house tracks.

The only snag of the night was the fact that artists did not perform to live music, but mimed to the background sounds of a CD at an event supposed to be a live performance. And this did not endear them to the crowd.

But Gazza and his dancers saved the night. The maker of ‘Shuna’ performed new songs from his upcoming and eleventh album, including new releases ‘Ila’ and ‘Mondambo’.

His performance had the audiences screaming out for more. With his energetic moves, Gazza and his dancers seriously impressed the fans.

The shy Heavy K did what he does best by spinning some of his new tracks, setting the crowd on fire with his mixes.
Fans could not stop screaming when he spun the discs to songs, such as ‘Umoja’, ‘Sweety’, and ‘Celebration’, which saw the crowd gyrating and singing along.

The Dogg also did not disappoint, although he mostly performed older songs, such as ‘He He He’ and ‘Mshasho’, before ending his performance with his hit song ,‘Nuka’, featuring Chesta.

Being an ambassador for male circumcision, he did not leave the stage without dispensing advice to all men to get “the smart cut”.
Upcoming award-winning group Ama Daz Floor gave a great performance when they danced and sang their most loved songs ‘Eduwa’, ‘Are you there’ and ‘True Colour’, with their electrifying stage presence.

Omsaane Niihana also gave his best, performing tracks from his second album, ‘Blood Pressure.’
Apart from music, Courage the Comedian left the crowd in stitches and begging for more when he made jokes about Gazza and Heavy K.

It was certainly an exciting event, with booze and traditional cuisine also on sale on campus.
