Medical experts say IV drips, also known as Intravenous Vitamin Therapy, are beneficial for cardiac health, as the Amino acid present aids in regulating blood pressure and are known to improve cardiovascular function.
Sharing this sentiment is Angela Haiputa (29), an anesthesiologist, who says the services she offers vary from skin brightening and glowing to weight loss, non-surgical tummy tuck, skin tags/freckles/moles removal, buttocks lifting (non-surgical) and breast lifting (non-surgical).
“The health benefits of IV drips are that it detoxifies the liver, slows the ageing process, boosts collagen, leaving the skin repaired and brighter, responsible for firmed skin structure/toning, clears the skin and is an excellent option for anti-wrinkles,” she said.
The health practitioner added that treatments are done strictly by consultation –and before anything happens, a background check in terms of medical history and issues such as breastfeeding and pregnancy should be known.
Haiputa noted: “An IV drip bypasses the entire process of digestion; the solution used goes straight to the target cells and connective tissues to carry out results. However, results per individual depends on their metabolism.”
The Swakopmund-based medical practitioner said they use a combination of powerful antioxidants, such as Glutathione, delivered with Ascorbic acid and thionic acid and fluids to hydrate the skin and reduce melanin production.
She said after a series of treatments (it can be from your 11th to 16th drip), a brighter skin tone, the glow or both may result (initially, it all depends on what exactly you are looking into; some people prefer the glow only, leaving their skin shade the same, while some prefer both the glow and brightening). For brightening and glowing, a supplement of Glutathione tablets speeds up the process”.
Haiputa, who owns Luxury Garden Spa, has a Medical Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre degree from Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara University and an Esthetic and Skin Care Management certificate.
She is now pursuing a diploma in Intensive Skin Care and Clinical Cosmetology.
All the qualifications are from India.
She says, for beginners, she usually recommends four drips (one drip per week) in the first month, and two drips per month for the following months; it can be three, six, nine or 12 months, depending on what a client wants.
“If the client is satisfied with their complexion at three months, they can drop the monthly treatments and only pop in at times when they feel they need the drip and the complexion does not fall back to the original one, usually the darker shade. After one has gotten the results, by standard, a monthly or trimester visit is recommended, based on their flexibility in terms of finances and time,” Haiputa highlighted.
In the same vein, she cautioned lactating and expectant mothers not to go on IV drips, adding that the spa administers only to 18-year-olds and older.
Apparent side effects vary from nausea and vomiting during the procedure to sweating, especially for beginners.
