Pineas Emvula, a resident of Kuisebmond was refused bail last week after he made a first appearance in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder. Emvula is alleged to have murdered his ex-girlfriend Ester Nulimba by stabbing her eight times all over her body the previous week.
The crime, which has sent shockwaves through the community of Kuisebmond and renewed calls for the re-introduction of capital punishment, is said to have transpired at Nulimba’s residence in Kuisebmond.
According to the police charge sheet, Emvula arrived at his former girlfriend’s residence, where she was asleep with her current boyfriend, kicked the door open and stabbed Nulimba all over her body with a knife.
Nulimba was rushed to the Walvis Bay State Hospital shortly after the incident, and was later transferred to the Windhoek State Hospital where she later succumbed to her stab wounds.
The case was postponed to July 30 2008 for further investigation. Emvula remains in police custody.
