Gladiators honour Nujoma with qualifying push

Gladiators honour Nujoma with qualifying push

Head coach of the Brave Gladiators Woody Jacobs expressed admiration for Namibia’s bravery in the face of adversity, citing the nation’s strength in overcoming tough challenges.

Reflecting on the passing of Namibia’s Founding Father Sam Nujoma, who passed away on 8 February, he emphasised that the team would channel that spirit to honour him by striving for success in the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations’ qualifiers against Eswatini.

“There are no major injuries which have been reported, but the team will have to do without Zenatha Coleman, Vewe Kotjipati and Twelikondjela Amukuto. But the technical team and I are confident in the capabilities of the remaining players, especially the more senior players, and the experience they will bring come match-day,” said Jacobs.

The team will face Eswatini in the first leg on Friday at the Somhlolo National stadium at 13h00, and on 26 February at the Dobsonville Stadium in Johannesburg at 15h00.

Senior player Lovisa Mulunga shared that training has been going well, with most players already in form after training with their respective clubs in the FNB Women’s Super League. “We are going to give our best,” she pledged. -lmupetami@nepc.com.na
