WINDHOEK – Hango Joel Sheehama (33), who allegedly stole items valued at over N$2 million two years ago in Windhoek pleaded not guilty to charges of housebreaking and theft when his trial continued in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court last Friday.
The charge sheet indicates he stole an assortment of jewellery, an expensive Rolex watch embedded with diamonds, several mobile phones, a laptop, a Sony video camera and N$37 000 in cash. He further stole US$20 000 in cash, 1000 British pounds, a portable safe, a Chevrolet Spark spare key, as well as a passport, it is alleged. The items have a combined value of over N$2 million.
The State alleges that on March 10, 2012, Sheehama broke into the house of Peter Hranon with the intent to steal the items in question. The matter was remanded to May 20 this year for the Prosecutor General to decide on how to proceed. Sheehama is free on bail of N$5 000, which was extended until his next court appearance. As part of his bail conditions, he has to report to the Wanaheda police station on Fridays between 7am and 8am. Magistrate Ingrid Unengu presided, while Kandiwapa Nangombe represented the State. Christiaan Nambahu of Nambahu & Associates represented the accused.
