The Hage Geingob Stadium came alive on Saturday as rugby fans witnessed two thrilling finals in the JSB gold and silver rugby cup.

Grootfontein Rugby Club were crowned gold cup champions after edging out Wanderers 37-32 in a pulsating encounter.

Reho Falcons Rugby Club lifted the silver cup with a dramatic 29-28 victory over Dolphin Sport Club.

The atmosphere was electric, with passionate supporters filling the stands and clubs giving their all in pursuit of glory.

The gold cup final lived up to its billing as Grootfontein and Wanderers traded tries in a nail-biting contest.

Grootfontein’s resilience in the dying minutes sealed their win and secured them the cup.

In the silver cup, Reho Falcons held their nerve in a one-point thriller against Dolphins.

The clash showcased the grit and determination of Namibia’s community-based clubs, proving that the depth of talent in the country runs beyond the premier sides.

Namibia Rugby Union board member Hermann Rust praised the high level of competition across both categories.

“When clubs in Namibia play each other, it’s always a very hard battle and there are no questions about the commitment of the players,” he said.

Beyond the results, the tournament has been hailed as a crucial platform for players to gain experience and showcase their skills, with an eye on Namibia’s ambitions to qualify for the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
