Grove Mall to open in September

Home Business Grove Mall to open in September

WINDHOEK – The Grove Mall in Windhoek’s Kleine Kuppe area is well on schedule to open towards the end of September this year. This was revealed by developers Atterbury, Demushua and Frontier Property Trust.

Situated in the Hilltop Estate, featuring A-grade offices, the first hospital in the south of Windhoek – the Lady Pohamba Hospital – residential apartments, a 4 000-square metre Virgin Active gym, a high performance centre, hotel as well as the new 17 000-square metre lifestyle Mega Centre, the Grove Mall will be the biggest mall in the country.

The Grove Mall has been designed with the shopper in mind. Five vehicular access points allow motorists onto three parking decks offering 2 426 parking bays. Each parking bay is on average 20cm wider than the current local offering.

Parking decks will be linked to main shopping levels without the need for staircases or elevators. The two main shopping levels and third entertainment level are all interconnected by six sets of escalators that present an experience in its own right.

The mall will offer a wide range of shops and choice of merchandise so much so that there will no longer be a need to shop outside the borders of Namibia.  This means more convenience and less money leaving the country, strengthening the local economy and creating more opportunities for all.

Designed by architects Boogertman & Partners, together with Howard and Chamberlain, the mall’s free-flowing aesthetic reflect scenes from the natural environment. Meandering dune-like lines connect shops through walkways, with the desert influences coming through reflecting in the floor tiling and through the use of natural stone and natural light.

But then again, what else can one expect from a N$1 billion mall? The mall will offer the first real food court in Namibia, with restaurants and fast-food outlets with outside seating on a large viewing deck. There will also be baby changing rooms and parking for moms and the elderly.

National anchors include Woolworths, Checkers, Game and Spar, with all four banks being present.

The Grove will also offer a new cinematic complex from Ster Kinekor boasting six theatres including the latest in 3D technology.

The long list of new shops opening their doors to the Namibian public for the very first time were hand-picked to suit the needs of most Namibians and travelling shoppers.

From the hottest fashion brands such as Guess, Poetry, Aldo, Lacoste and Cotton, to furniture specialists like Coricraft and Outdoor Warehouse, and Dis-Chem Pharmacies, BT Games, Gadget Shop, Le Creuset, Natal Wholesale Jewellers, Sunglass Hut and a whole range of specialist food and coffee shops such as the famous Vida-e Caffé, Woolworths Food, News Cafe and Wakaberry will all open in the Grove.
