The Germany Technical Cooperation (GTZ) has reaffirmed its continued support for developmental programmes in Namibia.

Namibia has received about N$930 million from GTZ for different projects since independence.

Speaking at the organisation’s official opening of its renovated offices in Namibia yesterday, the Director-General of the National Planning Commission (NPC), Helmut Angula, said GTZ supports natural resources and rural development in Namibia. Key areas of support include land reform, water, biodiversity, community forests and protected areas.

Angula said a micro-finance pilot project based in northern Namibia has provided financial services for a growing number of people.
