Gunners, United ready for Young African

Gunners, United ready for Young African

OHAMBO JATATE – The two Otjozondjupa based Debmarine Premier League clubs Mighty Gunners and Okahandja United are ready to face on-form Young African FC in Gobabis this weekend.
Young African are yet to lose a game in the premier league and are second on the log behind the defending champions, African Stars.
Following its relocation from its home ground Gobabis to Windhoek last year, the team, better known as Yangile, is welcoming two Mighty Gunners and Okahandja United at the famous Legare Stadium.
Mighty Gunners coach Gebard Hengari shared that the Otjiwarongo-based team is well prepared against Young African who are yet to taste a defeat in the league.
“It’s not going to be easy playing them in their backyard with their supporters cheering them for the first time at home this weekend. They have a good record in the league, and they would want to hold on to that,” said Hengari.
The coach said that Gunners will go into the game as underdogs and won’t put this team under any pressure.
“Of course, Young African are the favourites, and we don’t have any pressure at all. We will play our normal game,” he said.
However, Hengari said his team is mentally and physically well prepared and will try to get positive results from the game.
He added that all players are available for selection this weekend.
“I don’t have any injuries, and my health bill is very clean, meaning that I have a full squad to face Young African,” said Hengari.
On his part, Johannes Congo Hindjou said United is fully prepared for Young African this Sunday.
Hindjou said, despite Young African’s stellar performances in both the league and MTC’s Maris Cup competition, which it wants to keep the momentum, his team Okahandja United FC is equally focused and ready to give them a run for their money.
“The team has been working hard under the guidance of our coach Richard Gariseb for the weekend fixtures against both Young African FC and African Stars,” said Hindjou, who is the club chairperson.
He said the players are eager and highly motivated to perform against the two top-of-the-log table teams.
“We as management have also shown great support by offering attractive bonuses for earning three, four, or six points this weekend’s fixtures. We are confident, ready to give a strong performance and fight for the points,” said Hindjou.
Mighty Gunners are currently fourth on the log while Okahandja United is at position number eight in the log and will both face African Stars this weekend as well.
Young African manager Maleagi Ngarizemo said his team is in great shape, have recovered from MTC Maris Cup final lost against African Stars and did well to get points against them on Tuesday in the league encounter.
“We want to maintain our good start to the league, and we have prepared well and want to do well against Gunners and Okahandja United. All players are ready and no serious injuries so far,” said Ngarizemo.
He then called on the team supporters to come in numbers at the stadium. –zngaruka@yahoo.com
