Gunners wary of Rebels in Premier League playoffs

Home Sports Gunners wary of Rebels in Premier League playoffs

By Staff Reporter

WINDHOEK – With the MTC Namibia Premier League (NPL) promotional/relegation playoffs set for Tsumeb this weekend, Mighty Gunners have promised to leave no stone unturned when they confront Windhoek-based Rebels as both teams look to book a place in the elite league come next season.

The Namibia Football Association (NFA) will facilitate the playoffs involving the three clubs that finished second in the three first divisions and the team placed 11th on the MTC Premiership 2013/14 log standings.

This means that Mighty Gunners (North West First Division), Benfica (North East First Division) and Rebels (Southern Stream First Division) join Rundu Chiefs at the Oscar Norich Stadium in Tsumeb this weekend to determine which three of the four teams will secure their spots in the NPL 2014/15 season, which will now consist of 16 clubs instead of the traditional 12.

On Saturday matches will start at 11h00 with Rundu Chiefs taking on Benfica to be followed by Rebels against Gunners at 13h00. The Gerros Urikhob Football Academy will be in action at 15h00 to be followed by another playoff encounter between Benfica and Rebels at 17h00, while Gunners versus Chiefs at 19h00 will end the day’s proceedings. On Sunday, Gunners will face Benfica at 11h00 and at 13h00 Chiefs will play Rebels.
