Valde Simeon (17) scored eight A’s and one C

Valde said his family is very proud of him, because he is the first in his family to score such high marks. When his friends ask how he did it, he replies that it is by perseverance, commitment, hard work and the ability to resist failure.

Simeon said afternoon studies at school helped a lot and he made to time to study at night when everyone was asleep. He wants to study mining engineering, aerospace technology and engineering.

Penehafo Shikongo (16) scored eight A’s and one C symbol

Penehafo said her high marks are a result of hard work, determination, diligence and self-motivation. “I studied throughout the year. Although I had other things to do I paused them during the examination,” Shikongo explained. She said although she could study at home she prefers to study at school. She plans to study gynaecology pediatrics, or chartered accountancy. Her message to fellow learners is to study hard and focus on their dreams.

Denilson Gaoaseb (17) scored six A’s, two B’s and one D symbol

Denilson said he stayed up late studying during the examinations. He also attended afternoon classes at school, which he says helped a lot. “During the examinations I came to school on Saturdays and studied. “I put in a lot of effort since the beginning of last year. I also study at home and because NBC switched to digital we didn’t have a decoder, so I didn’t watch TV but studied.” The aspiring biochemistry student said his parents are very proud of his good grades and he wants to excel. “Complacency is not the thing anymore. I want to aim higher,” he said.
