RUNDU – Three beneficiaries of government’s National Youth Development Fund initiative this week met with Kavango East Governor Hamunyera Hambyuka and representatives from the Development Bank of Namibia and Agribank.
The beneficiaries Kleopas Nepolo of Passa K Investment (Renewable energy), Esther Kativa of Kwata Mbunge Fish Investment and Julio Manase of Malangahi Investment (Brickmaking) were invited to the meeting to discuss the way forward in terms of project commencement and give them the opportunity to get in depth answers and clarity to their concerns, such as when the funds would be availed to them.
All three projects are expected to cost a total of N$1 036 900. The governor took the opportunity to congratulate the beneficiaries.
“By pursuing your business ventures, you directly contribute to this national goal. Everyone of you have a stake in building a stronger local economy in Kavango East – whether through agriculture, manufacturing, services, or any other sector. Your success will mean more jobs and better livelihoods for families across our region, and that is something we all celebrate,” he said.
He further cautioned the beneficiaries to use the funds sparingly, adding that these are public funds that have been entrusted to them, therefore it comes with great responsibility should not be taken for granted.
“Each of you must be diligent and honest in managing the funds you receive. Use them strictly for the business activities you proposed. Keep clear records, honour any repayment schedules, and seek help early if challenges arise. Misuse or waste of these resources would betray public trust, slow down our development efforts, and ultimately hinder the development of youth in Namibia,” he said.
Beneficiary Esther Kativa of Kwata Mbunga Fish Investment CC said she is grateful for the opportunity and will work hard to make sure her business succeeds.
A total of 1375 youth in Kavango East Region submitted their applications at the Governor’s office.
