Soccer fans in the north, specifically Otjiwarongo, are bracing for the eagerly-awaited 2nd round of the lucrative Hansa Pilsener Cup competition for lower division teams slated for the Mokati Stadium at Otjiwarongo this weekend.

With defending champions Onambula United notable absentees from the tournament following their elimination in the first round, it will be trying times for Keetmanshoop outfit Try Again when the boys from Tseiblaagte come up against United Stars.

In tomorrow’s second match, King Fisher Football Club will have to stroke their way around Young Rangers if they are to entertain any hopes of reaching the quarterfinals with Free State United having a date against Blue Birds, while Invincible Football Club could possess too much power of their own to dismantle Major Power.

In Sunday’s action, Flamingo Football Club are pitted against Deportivo Alaves, while Nexus Building Pubs return to action following last weekend’s 3 -1 defeat at the hands of African Stars in the first round of the MTC NFA Cup competition at the same venue.

The Outjo-based team squares up with Eleven Brothers in the day’s second match.

Hotspurs, currently riding the crest of wave following last weekend’s runaway victory over Aranos in the MTC NFA Cup, should prove too strong for PC Blue Boys.

Rundu Chiefs conclude the weekend’s activities with a date against Vietnam Rangers, who were narrowly bundled out of the MTC NFA Cup by APS Blue Waters last weekend.

Meanwhile, the Organizing and Competition Committee of the Hansa Cup Competition in a press release said it would not tolerate any kind of hooliganism and unruly behaviour at any event under its auspices and offenders will be dealt with in the most appropriate fashion.

The statement further reads; bottles or any other objects that might be deemed dangerous for the safety of other customers will be confiscated, while all vehicles and revellers entering the stadium would be subjected to a thorough body search.
