Newly elected councilors have elected Elias Nghipangelwa as the new mayor of Helao Nafidi.
Nghipangelwa was nominated by his predecessor, Paulus Haikali, during the swearing-in ceremony for office bearers at Helao Nafidi Trade Expo grounds on Friday. He will be deputised by Panduleni Haingumbi.

Hilya Hashoongo, who has served as a councilor for decades, was nominated as chairperson of the management committee. Apart from Hashoongo, those nominated to the management council include Paulus Haikali (as deputy chairperson), Tomas Kandjebo as ordinary member and Ester Nghishidimwa as the additional member. Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) Councillor Vilho Shimwooshili will be the sole voice from the opposition ranks on the council. The rest are Swapo members.

At Eenhana Julia Shikongo retained her position as mayor. She will be deputised by Eunike Shonena, while Leonard Jona and Amos Nangolo were nominated as chairperson and deputy chairperson of the management committee, respectively.

Ohangwena Regional Council also saw the swearing in of the new management committee, as well as new and returning councillors of various counstituencies.

Erickson Ndawanifwa will chair the management committee. Ondobe Councillor Mandume Pohamba, Festus Ikanda of Omundaunguli Constituency and Fillipus Namundjebo of Oshikango will also serve on the management committee of the regional council.

In the Oshikoto Region Samuel Shivute was sworn in as the chairperson of the management committee. Sackeus Nangula, Jerry Ngwena and Valde Sheyavali will also serve as members of the management committee.

Other councillors sworn in to serve on the Oshikoto Regional Council include Lukonga Victoria Shikongo, Iiyambo Indongo of Onayena, Jerry Ngwena of Oniipa, Petrus Kambala of Onyaanya, Sackey Nangula Omuntele, Valde Sheyavali of Eengodi, Samuel Shivute Omuthiya, Betty Kaura of Quinas, Lebbeus Tobias of Tsumeb, Hansa Nambodi and Reinhold Shiningombwa.
