WINDHOEK – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Secretary General Hicham El Amrani will soon be heading a high-profile delegation of CAF inspectors to Namibia, where they will examine stadiums and training facilities ahead of this year’s CAF African Women’s Championship, which Namibia will host from October 11 to 25 in Windhoek.

As Namibia prepares to lay on this major sporting spectacle, CAF recently informed the country’s football authorities that a delegation to be spearheaded by Amrani and the Chairperson of the CAF Women Championship Organising Committee, Molefi Oliphant, accompanied by a technical team, will be in Namibia during the off days of the third-edition of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), which starts in South Africa on Saturday January 11. The confirmed off days will be January 23, 24, 27, 30 and 31.

“The visit will particularly focus on inspecting various venues for the competition, which includes stadiums, training sites, hotels and hospitals, as well as meeting with stakeholders. Obviously, we will also discuss issues such as airline services, telecommunication and broadcasting services. The CAF delegation will also consist of the CAF secretary general and other members,’’ confirmed NFA President John Muinjo.

Muinjo added that the undertaking would be “worthwhile and very positive” as it should guide the country on how to professionally organize and host such an event.

“This is a very important inspection from CAF and the whole world’s footballing family will turn its eyes to Namibia. The tournament is sure to provide an important platform for many rising women talents and I have no doubt that it will be a wonderful spectacle where the Brave Gladiators will finally stand up and be counted amongst the best in Africa,” elaborated Muinjo who called on all Namibians to play their part in making sure Namibia hosts a successful championship.

The NFA chief was confident that the national infrastructure would impress the inspection team, resulting in CAF hopefully reaffirming its confidence in Namibia pulling off a spectacular event in October.
