OSHAKATI – Namibia’s former world champion and current World Boxing Organisation (WBO) International Lightweight champion, Paulus ‘Hitman’ Moses has once again proved that there will be no complacence in his desire to regain the world title, as he takes training seriously and is always willing to train wherever he finds himself.
Despite being on an official trip to the northern part of the country, this did not derail his daily training routine as he paid a surprise visit to the Kilimanjaro Boxing gym in Oshakati, where he trained for two days.
Regardless of the dilapidated state of the gym, Hitman said Kilimanjaro is one boxing club in the north with good administration and he chose to train with the club for the two days because they have a high level of commitment towards boxing and they strive to develop despite difficulties.
He said training with Kilimanjaro served as an inspiration to all aspiring boxers and not to catch media attention. Kilimanjaro Boxing Club belongs to Joseph Benhard, a former boxer who also represented Namibia at the Olympics.
Hitman called on the business community in Oshakati to assist the club in whatever form – financial or equipment. On his part, Hitman promised to organise boxing equipment to donate to the club.
The boxer revealed his plans to hang up his gloves in two years’ time. “In the meantime, I am working hard and very focused so it’s all up for my trainer to inform me on the way forward,” he said.
