… to use him as a stepping stone
WINDHOEK – Namibia’s former lightweight world champion and incumbent World Boxing Organization (WBO) International Lightweight champion, Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses, yesterday cautioned his opponent Leonardo Gonzales to carefully watch his step when they meet on Saturday, because any mistake from the Argentinean will result in his downfall.
Speaking at a press conference at Wernhil Park in the capital yesterday, an upbeat Hitman said he was once a world champion and thus he knows what it takes to be on top of the boxing food chain, saying his mission is to move within touching distance of the world title and Gonzales will not stop him from achieving that feat.
“For now, I don’t want to predict the round in which I will knock out Gonzales but all I can say is that he (Gonzales) must be very careful when we meet on Saturday, because if he makes any mistake I will punish him,” warned a confident Hitman.
On the other hand, a sharp-faced Gonzales refused to take the Namibian’s verbal slaps lying down and shot back saying he knows and respects Hitman but in boxing, nothing is predictable and he is ready to rise to the occasion.
Also on the menu on the night will be Vikapita ‘Beast Master’ Meroro, who defends hisWBO Interim Africa Cruiserweight title against Tanzanian Pascal Ndomba, over 12 rounds of what promises to be a real boxing feast at the Ramatex Factory this Saturday. Bethuel ‘Tyson’ Ushona completes the title defence line-up with his much anticipated bout against South Africa’s hard-hitting pugilist Kaizer Mabuza over 12 rounds.
