With the hope to contribute to the fight against HIV/AIDS in the country, 31-year-old Immanuel Sheefeni who was diagnosed with HIV two years ago has published a book titled ‘Symbol of Hope.’

Sheefeni said on Monday he wrote the book to encourage people who are battling HIV to come to terms with the illness.

He also said the book was written to contribute to creating awareness on the social stigma related to the disease that has no known cure apart from the drugs that mitigate the virus.

“Stigma is still an issue in the community,” the HIV activist said. The 18-chapter book, Sheefeni says, is an assurance to HIV-positive people that there is hope. “I’ve seen hope in me,” he adds. In addition, HIV-positive learners and students as well as the unemployed who are living with HIV/AIDS will get the book for free, although it will sell for N$365 to the general public.
