WINDHOEK – Activities at the ongoing Okakarara Trade Fair will this weekend be amplified by thrilling horseracing action, organised by the Professor Supporters Club under the auspices of Okahatjipara Turf Club.
The ever-growing annual Okakarara Trade Fair remains the biggest entrepreneurial centerpiece of the Otjozondjupa Region, and the horseracing competition was since added to the event a few years ago to bring an element of fun to the various attendees of the trade fair.

The race, which receives financial support from MTC and other entities, takes place tomorrow at the town of Okakarara and is again expected to attract the country’s top jockeys and the crème de la crème of Namibia’s thoroughbred horses.
In an earlier interview with Nampa, Timo Mujeu, who is one of the race organisers, said a handsome amount of N$64 000 has been set aside for the competition that will feature 12 grilling races across the various divisions. 

According to Mujeu, the club aims to promote horse-racing in the country and has called for the cooperate world to come on board and help take horseracing to all corners of the country. Established in 2014, Professor’s Supporters Club is a social club comprising of horse racing fanatics countrywide, and was created for the welfare of their members. The club also recently held a successful July handicap in Okondjatu, which attracted hundreds of spectators. –Adapted from Nampa
