The HotPocket Band takes pride in playing a role in the music industry, and is keen on a journey to establishing itself as a premier live music band.
The band was formed in 2018 as the Namibia Annual Music Awards (Namas) in-house band, known then as the King’s Band.
In 2021, after the Namas, the band saw a growing demand for live music and decided to rebrand as HotPocket, to create and promote a brand of their own.
“When a song is produced in the studio, it is mostly computerised. So, we rearrange and make them suitable for live acts, and put them on instruments. We have been doing that at the Namas for five years,” said lead guitarist Immanuel Nicolau, stage name Imms Nicolau.
He told VIBEZ! the dream is to be a formidable live band that adds flare to stage live performances in Namibia, and ensures revellers enjoy shows in a fun way, and not just in the same old ways.
HotPocket consists of bass guitarists Constantino Salohoma and Wayne Mhlanga, drummer Fernando Pius, Thomas Josef on the keyboard, and lead guitarist Nicolau.
The band’s spokesperson Hilma Petrus said anyone watching the HotPocket band can always expect a diverse blend of local and international cover mixes with modern arrangements.
“Our performance will be a unique mix that highlights our versatility and musicality, providing an unforgettable live music experience,” she indicated.
Petrus said being part of any event in the countryside music calendar allows them to reach a broader audience and showcase their ability to create captivating live musical experiences.
“We are always looking forward to connecting with new fans and sharing our passion for music on this grand stage,” she ecstatically said. -psiririka@nepc.com.na
