Hotspurs’ aspirations of gaining promotion to the country’s elite league at the end of the current season were slightly dented when the Southern Stream log leaders failed to maximize home ground advantage.
The Windhoek-based outfit conceded a last minute goal to share the spoils (2 – 2) with the visiting Black Marocco Chiefs from Mariental at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek last weekend.
However, Spurs came out smoking like a mean machine and walloped a hapless Flying Eagles by 8 goals to 1 in a one-sided match at the Khomasdal Stadium on Sunday, to maintain their slender lead at the top of the table in Namibia’s second tier league.
In other action, 2nd placed Monitronic College hammered five goals past the out of sorts Flying Eagles while conceding one to ground the low-flying birds who have been finding the going extremely tough in the domestic nationwide division one league this season.
On Sunday, the students missed out on a great opportunity to close the gap on Hotspurs as they went down by 3 goals to 2 against the visiting Black Marocco Chiefs.
Elsewhere, Zambezi United defeated Namib Woestyn by 2 goals to 1, and Friends had the better of the exchanges in an otherwise exciting encounter against Young Beauties with a narrow 2 -1 win over the talented Keetmanshoop outfit.
Former Namibia Premiership campaigners Deportivo Alaves, scored a rare win when Willy Swarts’ charges effortlessly waltzed past Young Beauties – rattling the opposition’s net twice without a reply at the Rehoboth Stadium on Sunday.
